YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life Thank God for silence. A space where she could hear only her own thoughts. She really should have asked for a single room. Not that she had a problem with leda, she just hated violating her privacy. It wasn't like there was anything she could do about it. That's why Mel loved her time alone. Just her own thoughts. Her own voice.
One or two people weren't so bad though, she could survive. She'd much rather have the power to read minds when she wanted to, not just whoever was in the room, like everyone was talking nonstop. It was brutal. But at least she couldn't hear everything at once, some people still had secrets.
That's why Mel was so glad to be alone. She didn't have to deal with anyone else. No wonder she had so few friends.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- I can't believe I did that She shoul've known it was going to happen This test is going to kill my GPA! What if my parents don't come this year? Half the time, she wanted to scream "ENOUGH!" to the world, but when she managed to silence the others' thoughts, she didn't mind it one bit. Blue eyes darkened, before they closed as the young woman paused in the hallway, clutching her bag and two books tightly for a moment as a wave of nausea passed through her veins. Shaking it off, she inhaled slowly as the hallway became crowded in front of a room, she could hardly remember who it belonged to. She yelped when a larger person hit her smaller frame, and continued on unaffected as her books tumbled to the floor and her mind sealed itself off from everyone else's.
To another telepath, she knew from her biological father, James, she'd appear - dead in some way, since they couldn't hear her thoughts. It was a nice thing to think about, course, as Javier vaporized in front of her, the mirror nearby began to shudder, and she looked up, then swiftly spoke in Spanish, "PapĂ, era un accidente. Por favor, no lo haga." The silvery figure of her father eyed her silently, though nodded as she stumbled, and caught herself on a dorm door. Grimacing, she muttered, "Sorry!" to the door as she regathered her two books and some papers that had flown out too. Great, she thought to herself - the perfect ending to the perfect day.
As she rushed to pick up her papers, Javier's ghost eyed her silently, before he then vanished into thin air, a thing all ghosts did that she aboslutely hated. Grimacing slightly to herself, she groaned as she realized she had to rearrange her things, or else her short term memory problems wouldn't allow her to remember where she had put them. Looking around in worry for a table, she sighed and her hand floated in the air for a moment, before a force field, horizontal appeared in front of a closed door, she hoped she wasn't disturbing anyone. As she set her books on it, she bit her bottom lip, trying deparately to remember where she always put her papers.

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life This was just a gut feeling, but she felt magic outside the door. A force field of some kind maybe? It was hard to say when she couldn't hear a thing, the air just felt wrong. Her curiousity was getting the better of her though. Now she had to weigh things out--go into the hall and hear everyone's thoughts buzzing in her head like someone switched on several radios and find out what was going on; or stay here in the quiet.
Mel got up and went to the door when she heard someone hit it, yelling a sorry. A fight? Great. Not. She wasn't sure what to do, so she opened the door and poked her ehad out catching the closest girl's thoughts about ghosts before she was bombarded by thoughts of a group chatting at the other end of the hall.
"You okay?" She asked the girl.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- As she shifted the books, a small wave, like water ripples came from it in her force field. Grinning lightly, she loved when that happened, she flicked it with an index finger, causing a ripple to appear in it once more. Smiling, she then frowned, her smile fading, as her thoughts travelled, before feeling another telepath around, frowning, she inquired, only so other telepaths could hear, "Hello? If you're in my head, get out before I make it worth your while in something you might not like." It was an empty threat, she only harmed people with painful memories, or caused them physical pain through making their brain believe they were being cut, burned, stabbed, or what-ever. And that only happened if she was really ticked at someone. Blue eyes surveyed her books, as she decided to alphabatize her things, therefore she could look easily through them. Though, seeing only a few titles, she groaned and put them in chronological order.
As the dates blurred together, she yelped when the door her force field was near, opened. Falling forwards, she caught herself on another force field, while her books fell, but landed on another one above her head. Looking up, wide-eyed, she looked to the dark-haired girl who had opened the door and spoke her way. Javier's form appeared in the room, and looked around, before approaching his daughter, slightly shaking her head, the Puerto Rican responded, "Yeah, yeah I'm fine, just dropped....my things." she gathered herself up from the girl's feet, and the force field underneath her books wrapped up into a ball, protecting her things she'd just reorganized. "Gotta make sure to keep things orderly so you don't forget."
She grinned shyly, at the inside joke, and Javier laughed. Course, this girl wouldn't be able to hear him, but she did. Biting her bottom lip slightly, she then added, brushing her hair behind a double-pierced ear as the force field lowered itself and dropped her two books gently into her hand, "I'm Alexandrea, Alexa or Alex if you want." she grinned shyly, "Or anything shorter than Zuleika, and I'll respond." Course, she thought to herself, she'd need to write the girl's name down or something, or think about her name and face for a good 10 seconds flat to remember it, so it was stored in her long-term memory.

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life "Sorry." Mel apologized as the girl fell. But she had no idea about force fields, she could just talk in other people's heads, if they were in the room of course. "I'm Mel." She said with a little nod. "And as for staying out of your head, I'm afraid I can't turn my powers off, but I will try to ignore what I'm hearing, but I make no promises." Better to be blunt, there was nothing she could do about it. She'd only heard the girls teleptahic message because the door was already opening, joining the space.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- Hearing the apology from the other one, she shook her head, "Don't worry about it, you didn't know." She grinned lightly, as she shifted her books, before tilting her head slightly, curiously almost. It was like as if a dog was trying to understand what you were telling it to do. That's what her sister's dog did, even if you told it to sit, he'd sit there with his blank, innocent brown stare for a minute, before Alexa usually just pushed him to do what she'd told him to do. Trained her butt. Margarita claimed he was, and of course when either she or her husband did it, the dog acted like a pro! Then again, maybe it just listened to them. Getting herself together, before hearing the girl's name, Mel. She tried running it through her memory of people she had classes with, maybe her advanced Spanish class or something. Why they were making her take Spanish, she didn't know. Or math, something she was moderately good at.
"Pleasure, Mel." She repeated it about 15 times in her head, trying to make sure she'd remember it in just about half-an-hour, though she knew she'd probably fail at that as well. When Mel mentioned about her head, she cringed slightly, and arched a dark eyebrow, before grinning lightly, and inquiring in her thoughts, wondering if Mel could hear, "How far can you go?" She meant, of course, how wide the girl's range was. Sighing softly, Alexa adjusted her white bag and mused, "Can I like...buy you a drink or something? I didn't mean to completely barge in on you like that." she grinned innocently, blue eyes watching the girl curiously.

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life "I'm limited to the room I'm in. But I hear everything from everyone. It's like listening to a bunch of radio stations at once. You?" Mel could hear a lot from a person, just not within a radius and on command. She would have perfered that.
"No harm done, really, but... alright."
Mel hated open crowded spaces though, she might pass out if she ended up in a noisy coffee shop, hearing both voices and thoughts. It had spazzed her body out before. Overload of information.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- The other girl responded in their telepathic conversation, and Alexa tuned in lightly. It was always nice in some way or another to have a conversation like this. Broke the usual routine of using her voice with that stupid Puerto Rican accent in it still. Course, as she heard herself respond, she could hear the slight accent even now, "Wow, but at least you get to know it."
[/i] she grinned weakly, and added about herself, "I can hear anyone's thoughts as long as they're at least a few hundred feet from me. Like your..radio stations, I don't get that anymore, so now, I can hear your thoughts, and some people's in the hall if I want to, but I don't, therefore I hear only your's." She nodded at her explanation, it was difficult to explain how she worked her telepathy, but she didn't say anything more, that seemed to sum it all up moderately well. Catching her thought about passing out, Alexa grinned weakly, and gestured towards her dorm room, "Actually, I have some good tea and coffee and drinks and the such in my dorm room, no one else in there but us." she grinned lightly, reassuring her, "My roomie was a senior last year, so I'll be getting a new one this year." she shrugged, and tucked her books into her bag, it was heavier, but she could manage, and the worst case was that she had to put up with it awhile longer - who cared? Alexandrea stepped aside, back out into the hall, and two force fields appeared on either side of her. Giving Mel a light look, the force fields slid away from her, taking up the entire hall width, though it was only a few inches thick. They slid away, pushing everyone else away, hoping that would help Mel out a bit.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote] ---------- what is it? finished how many? 308 clothing things? click here by whom? by me, steal and a mutated guinea pig will hunt you down anything else? YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life "Lucky. I can't tune anyone out, but if i focus hard enough in a group and can just pay attention to one person. Mel explained. She wished her hearing could be selective. Too bad really. If anyone could get into her head, they'd have trouble finding her thoughts over the thoughts of everyone else in her head.
"Oh, sure." Indoors, alone, that was plenty---that was pefrect actually. Less people, less thoughts. Alex was worried about passing out, Mel wondered why but said nothing.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- Tilting her head silently, Alexa listened when Mel responded about it. Giving her a gentle look, she mused, "Luck of the draw, I'm sorry about your ability...have you tried music maybe? Or does that make it worse? I know it can really help or really hurt." The dark-haired teen looked to the other one as she accepted her invite. Grinning, she nodded, and lead Mel away from her dorm room to the other side of the halls, of the female dorms to her own room. Unlocking it, the young woman looked to Mel and smiled gently, before opening it to her organized room. Dumping her bag down, she walked to the tiny kitchenette in the double-room, the other bed unoccupied for the time being while they paired her up with someone. "Want would you like?"
She pointed to some tea options, soda and coffee, even flavor water choices too. Alexa created a force field underneath two cups and had it bring it over to where they were as she closed her door, "There....hear anything besides me?" she grinned lightly, running a hand through her hair before sitting on her swirly chair and laughed as she spun. Stopping, she grinned innocently towards Mel, "So...you a senior then?"

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life Mel followed the girl into her room. It was far neater than hers was. Mel liked things neat but she never had the time nor the desire to actually do the cleaning. She could keep it clean and neat once it was those things already.
"Just you," She said with a little smile. And her own mind of course, so that made two, technically. But you could never get out of your own mind, at least not in any safe way that you could get back into yourself.
"Yeah, I'm a senior, how about you?" She didn't realize it was obvious that she was a senior, but whatever. It didn't matter. Harmless enough really.

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- Grinning to herself at Mel's thoughts about her room and the comparison between the two, Alexandrea mused, "It's easy to keep it clean with only one in the same room." she winked a blue eye lightly. Turning in her chair as Mel mentioned only her, Alexa nodded, it was interesting to see how Mel's power worked. She knew there were different types of telepathy, but she hadn't actually ever met anyone with something different from her's. Course, her's was more powerful because her other powers - well - she didn't think her mediumship was very useful if she ever needed to fight, and her force fields could be like telekenisis if used skillfully enough. A frown flickered along her features, before raising her gaze to meet Mel's.
"Junior, actually." she grinned sheepishly, as if being younger was a crime, though she'd gotten caught by someone who she knew she wouldn't get in trouble with. Alexa got up and spoke, making herself some black coffee, knowing she had some stuff to study for for the upcoming week, "There's some coffee if you want any." she gestured, sipping her thermos, enjoying the warm sensation of the coffee. The young woman looked towards Mel, "Know what you want to do when you graduate?" she smiled lightly, striving for light conversation, while she gave Mel a break, "You can always go back to your room if you want, I won't hold you from doing something you need to do."

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life Mel smiled, but she wasn't really into coffee. "No thanks." She said with a sheepish smile, feeling bad that she wasn't really taking Alex's hospitality. Oh well.
"I have nothing to do, but if you have to study i can go..." She said. Alex had been thinking about staying up to study. It wasn't late yet so she must have had quite a fair amount to do.
"I really don't know. I mean, the world isn't really like fox glove, and finding other people like us out there... i just don't know."

it's the ( L I F E ) we were born to have it's the ( G I F T ) we were given to wield ---------- Nodding at Mel's response, Alexa nodded and sipped on her own caffeine. Most teens were a fan of some sort of caffeine drink, so maybe coffee wasn't Mel's. Alexa only liked her coffee at night when she had to study, never during the morning, she preferred not to get addicted to it if she could help it. Though, as they hovered there, she jumped when something pecked on her closet door. Sighing softly, she grinned weakly, "Sorry...something must have fallen." setting her Thermos down, she noticed it was an animal that she could summon, the ghostly-like animal the size of a dog, and it looked up at her silently, she shook her head, and murmured, "No." before closing the door most of the way and heading back to where she had been before.
Mel mentioned leaving, Alexa shook her head, now knowing Mel must have heard her thoughts, "Oh, don't worry about it, it's a few tests coming up, but I already know it." she reassured her. Tucking her right leg underneath her leg, a habit she'd gotten into when she was a freshman here, Alexandrea nodded to Mel's comment about others like them once they left Foxglove. "Yeah, that's why they teach us secrecy." she grinned, "Though, it's an adjustment we'll all have to make to blend in for real life, like work, and such." she sighed softly, and shrugged. She knew she'd never get used to her medium, summoning powers, what-ever it was, but she'd adjust. Alexa spun once in her chair, giving Mel an innocent look, "Know where you want to live? I'm thinking about New York."

YOU KNOW I'VE SEEN IT BEFOREthe mist that covers your eyesYOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING that's not in your life It wasn't her place to say anything, but was it really a good thing to keep an animal in a closet? Even if it was, according to Alex, ghost like?Maybe ghosts liked closets or something. Melete didn't bother to ask though.
She would stay, but they didn't have anything to talk about it seemed, maybe both to preoccupied with covering up their own thoughts so the other couldn't hear them. That seemed plausible. Or maybe they just didn't have much in common.
"I have no idea where I want to live." She hadn't thought about it at all, and it was only a few months away.
